Re: GAZ66 dizzy
I have an mpg count on the last tankfull. I filled up with fuel and used the GPS for the last 250km journey.. This was motorway for 50% of the route at 75-77kph and A road for more or less the remainder. Between 13 &14 mpg! The GPS gave me the exact mileage, the speedo is a ´little´off No hills on ...

Re: Tyres
I got a quote recently from Stomil in Poland for new 12x18 T5 tyres 215 euros each, MOQ six tyres, lead time 3 weeks I may also buy 5 tyres. My 12x20 Conti MPTs are wearing ok but the run back through France also trashed mine a bit so I'll need some new ones at some stage I did a run down to the Alp...

Re: 19 mpg on a Gaz-66
I'm defineitely going to make a set of free wheeling hubs, it was noticeably smoother running and I'm sure there was more than a few mpg gained by not turning the front prop etc unnecessarily

Re: 19 mpg on a Gaz-66
We went from Calais across Belgium, down through Luxembourg and back in to France on the eastern side then down to Provence, taking advantage of the toll free autoroute. Nowhere near as much fun as traveling the A roads but Grommet is still on the Gaz 4 speed gearbox with its notorious hatred of dow...

Re: 19 mpg on a Gaz-66
I'm very light with my right foot as I still have a little nervousness about the longevity of the drive train. When the standard petrol ZMZ V8 has 200 lb/ft torque and you start feeding in 420 lb/ft, something has to give somewhere

19 mpg on a Gaz-66
Just been for a run down through France with Grommet1 in a two Gaz-66 convoy and totted up my fuel consumption. Rather pleased with 19mpg from my Cummins 6bt converted Gaz-66. 400 litres of fuel and 2750km travelled- in old money, 88 gallons to 1700 miles =19mpg Mostly autoroute at 70-75kph. Because...

Louis, he owns a collection of large and obscure items, not least of which is the Maz and a French made amphibious bridge layer with a 12 cylinder air cooled diesel that use to live outside my local pub. No idea where he lives

I don't think we have ever seen the Minsk 245 turbo diesel on any truck here in the UK.
It would be of great interest to see some pictures of the engine installation if you have some time to post them up

Hi Graeme,
Welcome to the forum. It's brave choice going for a Kraz camper, I'm sure the camping and caravan club will love it though
Are you dead set on a Kraz or will anything slightly smaller but equally crazy do?
