Re: High speed axles

OK, an update Gustav and Oleg were right, you need to use GL5 in this axle, GL4 is not suitable, after about 2500 miles what I thought was a rattly ZF gearbox turned out to be a totally shagged and work out pinion. I found this out after: 1. Rebuilding the ZF gearbox 2. Replacing the clutch 3. Check...

I'm interested, I'm hoping the Praga had gone to its new home by then but replacing it with a IFA W50. Doubt the Zil will be running by then
What is the IFA going to be, a camper at last?

The new Ural looks extremely nice, I guess complete like that is a few $$$. But you get to drive it home!

Re: How about a RTF Meet

That sounds great, I'm pretty sure we can make it.

Camping down by the stream is really good, it's nice and private and there is plenty of wood, only downside is the lack of toilets but I'm sure we can improvise something on that score

Re: K58

If you can get new tyres, the T5 Stomil is really good, it doesn't have the aggressive looks of the K70 but it has a good tread pattern which works well enough offroad and it is lovely and smooth on road and will last well on tarmac. Drawback is making sure what you are being sold is brand new becau...

So how are they going to ensure people don't just stamp their own dates on them anyway? There's going to be plenty of ways around this for the more unscrupulous operators.

I can already see the little heated stamp set on Ebay from China. Can't imagine what sort of person would do that /:)

10 year old tyres

I don't know anyone with tyres that are over ten years old  "We will grant an exemption to 2 vehicle groups. Firstly, to those vehicles that are currently exempt from tyre roadworthiness regulations (including agricultural tractors that travel at low speeds) to remain consistent with existi...

Re: Bypassing the CTIS

Hi Niall,
Difficult to say what you can and can't connect to if all of the control plate stuff has been removed
Id take the ctis valves off and inflate each tyre via the valve stem in turn
Pretty sure the internal thread is in the inner tube stalk for a normal Schrader valve

Re: Slave cylinder cup seals

Removing the master cylinder is uncomfortable as opposed to difficult It's a combined brake and clutch master cylinder casting I had mine rebuilt by Past Parts in Suffolk using Girling imperial sized seals. Clutch is 22mm, they honed this out to 22.22 or 7/8" and they sleeved down the brake from 32m...

Re: Differences between Ural 375 and 4320

6 years later and this post gets another reply I've been digging some part numbers out on axles to see what changed between the 375 and 4320 as far as the gearing for the slower revving diesel The axle reduction is in two parts on the Ural axle First reduction drive is a spiral bevel and that is whe...

Re: What's happened to all the peeps?

I've been working all the way through lockdown, we've been really busy with orders so all of those jobs I thought I could get on with are still there I did get time to rebuild the Gaz rear diff with a new 5.5:1 ratio crown wheel and opinion and so the Gaz is a runner again The Uaz needs a fair bit o...

Re: Brake lights switch - maybe relay?

I made a brake light switch out of a wooden clothes peg one year when we driving down through France and the pressure switch failed. Nipped into the nearest French supermarket to look for switch making things and cam out with a packet of pegs. As with all temporary fixes it was on there for a good f...

Re: Lockdown

I missed the MOT holiday on my 452 by 4 days so with it out of MOT and Tax it was SORNed for a week until I could get an MOT booked. It passed with flying colours ;) again :D The Gaz had no rear diff in it so that was a job that needed to be finished but it was a job that was really easy to keep put...

Re: Gaz 66 for sale on Milweb

Interesting choice of tyres, Stomil on the front and K70 on the rear. For £15k I'd be wanting new rubber all round.

The internal clutter is quite interesting though
