Re: Dead Duck or…
Reliabilty wise with the truck has been good so far. We have been permanately on the road for 5 months and travelled about 5000kms. Had a flat tyre due to a CTIS valve leaking, a misfire/backfire, which was the rotor arm , worn brushes on the dynamo and a flat battery caused by the wiper motor!? Du...

No, I’ve been banned until I get my long standing (ie put to one side) projects finished…although I have got a cat n panda cross that I need to get on the road (my Cherokee XJ does the infamous ‘passes everything except petrol stations)…but no new/old military stuff I know that situation quite well...

Re: Dead Duck or…
I have not posted much because there is no coverage in the Sahara! Been in the desert playing with the truck, got 3 months in Morocco. We have been in minus6 to desert. We´ve had ice on the windows inside a few times! Got stranded in a town due to heavy rain and horrendous weather. Dry rivers up to...

Anybody bought anything interesting lately? :) No, I’ve been banned until I get my long standing (ie put to one side) projects finished…although I have got a cat n panda cross that I nee...

Re: 15km trail of destruction
The real trouble for the Russians is that they have nowhere to hide, gone are the days of moving under cover without being noticed. Now surveillance is everywhere. The Russian armoured and supply convoys are tracked before they even leave Russia, satellite and spy planes track them constantly, once ...

Re: 15km trail of destruction
Seems like now there's a lot of Russian soldiers that don't actually want to have any part in this fight. I've seen lots of videos showing abandoned Russian vehicles of all types that are left in fully working order, sometimes complete with fuel and ammunition. The reports are that their crews have ...

Re: Russia
You can still order parts, the biggest problems is paying for them! Now they've blacklisted all the banks you can't just make a transfer, but there are other methods that still work.
This whole mess must be really hurting the Russian economy, think we'll feel the pinch pretty soon as well.

Re: 15km trail of destruction
Looks like they're deliberately targeting residential buildings now, seen a few videos of missile strikes on one town, one where it took out an entire block of flats. Seems they want to scare off the civilians so they can then use thermobaric weapons to clear out the entrenched positions, I'm guessi...

Re: My first purchase
Hi. I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on which suppliers to go with except any in the UK will likely be placing a fairly high mark up on what they have so buying from the continent will most likely get you a better deal. However as mentioned going to see it first and perhaps haggling for a better ...

Nice job he's done. Thing is that engine is worth more than the truck over here as it goes in the square cab mogs so people pay silly money for em

Re: Zil 131 for sale in the UK (ling )
Haha that advert was certainly worth a read :)) But yeah it looks like your usual Zil 131, rusty and in need of a bit of work :D The Dissy looks to be the later type electronic unit, so I would doubt it's the dissy itself that's the problem as there's not much in one to go wrong, but it could have h...

Re: LPG
You can always buy yourself a transfer pump and fill up from the big red 47kg propane bottles, but do remember to declare what you've used to HMRC so you can pay the added duty on it ;) We were getting them for about £50 a bottle when buying in bulk (10 or more), last lot we had was before...

Re: Modern trailer air brake question.
Heh yeah, I figured the normal trailer socket on the tractor wasn't going to power it all, I'm thinking maybe I'll fit a step up inverter on the tractor anyway wired into the fusebox as this particular modulator looks to only accept a 24v supply from what I can tell so far, obviously this then can f...

Re: LPG
If no spare wheel well and not utilising torp tanks then your options are a bit limited. It looks like then the only way is indeed to replace the petrol tank and run solely on LPG, but that'll ultimately be up to whoever is installing it as don't forget you'll want an engineers/installers report to ...

Re: LPG
Sequential injected LPG for starters, you loose a shed load of performance and fuel economy from any of the induction type kits. You'll want to keep the petrol option just in case, LPG can be unpredictable even on the factory fitted vehicles if not used often. Maybe some torpedo tanks under the sill...

Re: High speed axles
Interesting :-B Not saying the advice regarding oil types is at all incorrect in any way but I find it hard to imagine that the kind of damage sustained would have been caused so rapidly simply by an incorrect oil grade. In the past I've used all sorts of different grades of oil in differentials whe...
