Ural 375 Questions

Post by freckles » Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:40 pm

Okay, a question regarding the Ural 375 D, with lowside flatbed: how many cubic feet is it to ship? Well really 2 questions: what's Poland's VAT? Well, maybe 3: know any reliable shipping companies? :D
I ask because Pa-Ko has one at an 'attractive' price...about US$2100 + VAT. Of course shipping will add to the price, but this is very tempting to follow up on.

Thanks for any info.
Whoops!! Is that SUPPOSED to be that color??

I used the tech manual's measurements and determined one volume, measured as one big box, to be 1902 cubic feet. This included a warning light (spot light?) on top of the cab that added a few cm, and the side mirrors extended, but I don't know how much that would subtract if removed/folded back for transport. The measured box's volume included open space above the cargo bed, as if the cab's height continued through to the rear bumper.
So then...Can transport volume be determined by simple overall length x height x width measurements, or can it be figured by adding what each separate box measures? That would be the engine compartment + the cab + the cargo body without bows and canvas. That would be somewhat less than the 1902 cu.ft., listed above.
I will be emailing Pa-Ko today about the details of cost and what sort of transport is available. Perhaps by Wednesday I'll know :-ss whether I can continue, or if this is just silly and I should stop already before I make a complete and total fool of myself . 8-|

shipping will to the US will not be cheap i guess and they will not fit inside a container...but shipping companies are keen for work right now so prices are low...

Expect to pay the following - from experience -

Inland from PL to RORO port (A ural will NOT fit in an container - we tried) it would fit on a flatrack but the prices are horrendous. Approx 900 EURO

Hamburg Terminal to Tacoma WA based upon 65 c.u/m plus fees - $4900

Port fees, Insurance (an absolute neccessity if you are shipping RORO) $500

Inland US - approx $1500 USD

I spent 6800 for my Ural 375 from Emden DE to east coast USA I brought in a clean ex Finnish 4320 and it was about 5800 through canada.

Sadly there is no cheap way to get the things here.
