I use ABBEY fine reader ocr software which seems handy enough at Russian.
A quick Google translate of the scanned document only needs a quick going over by a technical Russian speaker instead of them having to do every word.
If you want to put something in a dropbox folder I'll try and OCR it for you.

Cool, thanks. I'll try and find something easy to OCR - a lot of the manuals aren't particularly clear, and not all the pages are straight, which won't help.

Try an easy and a difficult ocr for comparison.
300dpi scan will generally give good results, no matter if not straight. Dodgy scans of scans of scans where things aren't clear give poor results.

Hi guys.

I've scanned in the "ZIL 131 Driver's Operational Hints" booklet.
It's not very comprehensive, but some of it's in English (and Spanish, and French, and German!), and there are some diagrams too.
For some reason the first 2 pages of the Spanish section are missing, so if anyone's got a better copy, let me know.
It also came with a picture of lubrication points (basically arrows pointing at an exploded view but could be helpful).
In the same booklet there is also an explanation of the dashboard controls, but I'm trying to find a bigger scanner as its larger than A3, and my attempts to stick two scans together usually don't look great....

Also it turns out that Yandex have something similar to Google Translate, which didn't do a bad job of some samples I tried.
I've found a pretty awesome 180p pdf by the Tomsk University that explains how the R161 works, so when I'm bored, I'll give it a go properly!

There's a great website here: http://www.moremhod.info/index.php/libr ... 24-zil-131, which has quite a lot of pictures in the same style. According to the title it is about the construction and maintenance for the ZIL-131A and ZIL-131B.

One more scan to share, this time of the inventory of the ZIL-131 R-161A2M1.
It's a bit random what it includes, but it does mention the model number of the missing trailer generator, which might be handy.

Anyone know what the "OTK-xxx" bits could mean at the top?

Hi Chris

Recently I told a friend of mine about W&P. I was quite surprised, when he told me, that he spent all his army years working on radio station like yours. I will try to get him to the show (at least for a day)

I don't do computers , I certainly don't do photo bucket type thingy stuff.

If this has worked you should be able to access Zil 131 schematics ( x 20 )

Has anyone got any more documentation for the Zil 131 R160 setup - I don't mind what language it is written in, I know a few folk that can speak Russian, Czech, and Polish. I can muddle through German, Italian and French.

Cheers
Sean

I have scanned this booklet in again. It's lower res, but has selectable text. I still haven't found where the missing Spanish page is :( I also scanned the insert explaining the dashboard switches etc.

I've scanned in a couple more random booklets.
One about a clock, which I guess should be in the dashboard. Our ZIL doesn't have this. The other one is about something for measuring pressure.
I have no idea what this is, and I can't see anything on our ZIL that corresponds to the diagrams. Can anyone enlighten me? Is it something from a different sort of NBC unit?

I'm plucking up courage to do the English manual as it's over 200 pages, and will be a right PITA to do properly.
