disengage front wheel hubs
Maybe there are posts about this, but I just got my UAZ and am trying to figure out the front hubs. I read this post :
http://www.russianmilitarytrucks.com/ph ... front+hubs
Should I loosen the inner bold and then pull it out by hand? How far should it be unscrewed before I can pull it out?
Thanks

Re: disengage front wheel hubs
Unscrew it until the machined line is level with the end of the hub flange, where the cap screws on. This will disengage the half shaft from the hub, splines on the outer, leaving it on the half shaft. There are some pics on my Uaz post linked above
Re: disengage front wheel hubs
Thanks, I just figured it out. I thought it just needed a half or quarter turn, but you really have to pull it out by unscrewing it.
Ill check if I didn’t pass the machined line.

Yup just keep on turning it out. I use a 3/8 extension, fits in the end well rather than making a tool up.

What switches do you mean? Can in then be done without tools?

Yes, hub with switch can be engaged and disengaged without any tools, just by turning the switch on each hub.
