I went to a small Robur meet in Heiligenhausen today. Several busses and vans were there as well as a NVA version in Feuerwehr colours. Some of them had unoriginal engines fitted such as Chevy straight six running on LPG and Mercedes 4 and 6-cylinder diesels. I learned that original Robur engines are not really air-cooled - they are noise-cooled!! Vans and busses are rare(ish) so go for quite a lot of money but the fire engines and NVA versions are very affordable. Good ones go for as little as EUR 1500.

Nice, they look really good, I do think roburs are attractive machines especially the bus! The bus reminds me of a commer camper van, the robur must be better though because its 4wd!

Re: Robur Treffen
The buses are normally 2wd. The "MZ" (mehrzweckfahrzeug = multi-role) can be had with 4wd.
I'm trying to get my hands on a downplated Feuerwehr version. I have a lead on one and the seller is willing to help with the paperwork. it is from 1971 so would be tax free.
