Re: NVA Tatra
I've seen few of them, this box is higher then me (6ft) and there's a lot of space inside.
Re: NVA Tatra
I was inside of one of them, it was empty, but it looked more like a part of radar station full of electronics, then a NBC unit. Besides, there were trucks with radar dishes standing next to it.
Re: NVA Tatra
Each version was produced to the Units needs. Some Ambulance/Command Cabin/NBC Test Unit/Radio Survey.
Re: NVA Tatra
Is the Lak body really taller than 6'? Going from the photos and comparing it to the height of the cab and wheels it looks somewhat shorter to me :?

Re: NVA Tatra
Don't remember the actuall size, but tyres on these Tatras looked a bit smaller then 14.00x20 on Urals.
Re: NVA Tatra
From memory I think the tyres on the 148 were 10.00 R20.

Re: NVA Tatra
they want big money for these and most are very tatty now....cant imagine why they demand such money...
Re: NVA Tatra
I agree, think I would be more tempted to get hold of an insulated shipping container and then cut it down to the size you want, you'd be a lot better protected in one of those, & warmer

Re: NVA Tatra
A good "Reefer" is expensive and if damaged lets damp in behind the insulation which goes mouldy Normal ISO and insulation board would be a reasonable idea.Abrs wrote:I agree, think I would be more tempted to get hold of an insulated shipping container and then cut it down to the size you want, you'd be a lot better protected in one of those, & warmer
Re: NVA Tatra
They do non refrigerated containers that are still insulated, they are double skin which will not allow any moisture inside even if there was a leak in the external skin. Normally go for about 1500 pounds for an A1 grade 20' container.

Re: NVA Tatra
Double skin! That would also protect tools from the "Light Handed" people in the night. I have found a decent Lak 2 Cabin in Germany at a sensible price and now need to work out how to bring back to the UK. Would have been simple if it had a Tatra 148/Ural truck underneath
Intend to use a workshop/emergency shelter on sites. Rain Rain and more at the moment  Seems like more in Cumbria

Re: NVA Tatra
BAT trade (.de) have a LAK2 and some later NATO aluminium cabins which look quite cosy.
