Nice Tatra 815/6 "Premo". That's another thing I love about the Tatra chassis system - you can mix and match the chassis tube arrangements to suit your needs, you can add or take away axles as pleases you :D

Theres another youtube clip of a 10x8 with a widget on the back for repositioning palm trees. whole ones, with their roots intact. I also found a clip for the Oshkosh 10x10 which looks fun, but I bet it costs 3 times as much as the equivalent Tatra, and is probably fiendishly complicated to operate.

You are a lucky sod to own a Tatra - they are the mutts nuts and I hope you can bring it to the next forum meet - I would love to see one in the flesh.

We could have done with it this year. The Ural recovery vehicle was supposed to be standing by like Thunderbird 2 waiting for a call from a stranded vehicle but he kept jumping in the mud. :D

Yea, that would be the trouble you might have with me to  - Just wondering who's going to recover me when I get stuck though :(

I'll do my best to be there - Funny thing about the Tatra is they aren't as big in the flesh as you'd imagine, I was a little disappointed when I first saw one, I was expecting something a little more......well impressive :D

I had a ride in an 8x8 Oshkosh at the DVD show last year. The driver did the extreme off-road course at the Millbrook Proving Ground with one hand on the wheel! (with 31 tonnes of blocks on the back)

have to say with that gap between front and middle axles it looks like it would bottom out very very easily and be well and truly stuck once that happens...or it will lift the front out in the air and have no sterring, can they brake steer the rear...it just looks wrong to me...and all those filters byt the tank...looks like a recipe for disaster...i want a tatra 813...am on the look out for one...

the front end did come up a few times but the rear wheels (both sets I think) steer too.

Look like a version of the current American MTVR trucks - What's it doing over here though?

It was the Defence Vehicle Dynamics show at Millbrook last year (there's one every year). It's like the W&P except all the vehicles are new and you actually get to drive some of them (had a drive in a Foden and a ride in a Viking and a Navistar Troop Protection Vehicle), and it's free - but invitation only, we were guests of BAE as we trained their Terrier, Trojan and Titan engineers for H Licence.

The British Army use a modified version of the Oshkosh tank transporter (they had those there too) so they were probably trying to sell some more kit. It was pretty amazing stuff - all the trailer hitching is fully automatic so the driver doesn't have to get out of his air conditioned, drinks holding cab.

There's more pic in my gallery: http://www.russianmilitarytrucks.com/ga ... 8-Milbrook

Unfortunately not - those are nice, but only used by the US I think, not for export. There was, disappointingly, no Russian representation at all at the show which was a shame.
