The Tatra 813 is home!!

Post by Abrs » Fri May 22, 2009 12:10 am

At last she has arrived :D Going to have a good play with her tomorrow :P , I can already see a few jobs that need doing though, but nothing too serious so far (fan belts, air leak, oil leaks etc), mostly just cosmetic stuff that really needs the work.

Also put an album on the gallery.

You stay where you are you! :D I've seen what happens when get your hands on a vehicle

Actually I've already started stripping the rear body off today, it was way too ugly to stay on there for any time. Also been driving the truck around most of the day getting used to how everything works which has been great fun  , however I've encountered the first really annoying problems; it appears someone has inadvertently been destroying all the seals in the hydraulic system by putting in an incorrect oil which has resulted in eroded seals - now after some use have mass evacuation of oil through every single seal on the crane, also the seals on the steering ram leaks as they used the same oil in the power steering system :x Oh and also the clutch has started slipping under load  - looks like another big job that needs doing soon :D Geat fun!

Phew!! It looks like I've gotten away with having to do the clutch for the time being - seems as though it's the slave cylinder that operates the clutch release bearing that's causing the trouble, appears to be sticking a bit and not returning fully which is holding the release bearing on a bit making the clutch slip a little, I suspect the reason for it's failure is the same as the reason for the leaking seals on the crane

Looks like I need to do every bloody hydraulic seal on this truck!

Actually I'm a dab hand at doing these power steering rams as I've done a few of this type on Zetor tractors, the Tatra one is exactly the same thing only it's about 4 times the size :?
The others in the crane are just bog standard type rams and so should be fairly easy - might scrap this crane though if it looks too expensive to repair, may possibly get a more modern one that stores better for possibly the same sort of money.

No, I just got a lot of mole hills to flatten out!!

Actually it's the BZ-T bulldozer blade attachment for making earthworks, the snow plough version has a V shaped blade and it's also higher & wider than the dozer blade.
