do you know the origins of the moskvitch / volga engine i have recently been given three one with a busted block other in peaces and the third is whole but rather stif and needs to be taken a part , so how is the best way to get rusted steel sleeves out from the aluminium block and what is the best way to clean the aluminium ,

If the liners are totally stuck in there you can use heat to help free them up, be careful though not overdo it, alternatively if you are going to replace the liner you can weld something to the inside and use that to help yank it out. You can use a stanley blade to clean the seat at the bottom, again be careful not to score it or it may leak, also it must be totally clean prior to fitting the new liner/seal.
