Paint codes

Post by RangerNeil » Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:06 am

Been trying to sort out the relevant shades of paint for Soviet/arsaw pact vehicles - this is what I've come up with thus far:

Base Green: Hex Code 4F5338

Sand overlay: Hex Code F8CC72

Light green overlay: Hex Code 59D704,

Dark Green overlay: Hex Code 0B320B

Does anyone disagree with these values??

If not then all I need to do is get the appropriate RAL or BS codes to match these Hex values!!
Neil.

What is the nearest RAL, BS colour to the green that a 1970's ZIL 131 Russian army would have been painted??

I think it's RAL 6014.

I was looking at pics of both Czech and Soviet vehicles (BMP-x and OT-90's) in quad colour cammo.. The four colours listed were the closest I could find to these. RAL 6014 looks pretty damned close to the base green the OT currently is....

Black?? You need to get a better monitor or play with the settings! You're not looking at this on a ZX Spectrum on a black and white TV c.1982 are you? :)

I suppose viewing the forum at all is a bonus then - I suspect most of the time all you get is a flickery picture of a clown. ;)

think you all got real problems if trying to achieve the correct colours cos talking to my russian mate last night[ex military, career soldier] and he said the colours varied all the time-even down to which factory the vehicle came from!

and by the time they've had their 19th coat of slosh from a squaddy's broom it's anyone's guess what colour it would end up.

Holy thread revival, Batman!

Good to see you at Evesham. Have just realised that the two-tone green you have on your OT is exactly what I need for my TGB. I was trying to match the olive and lime greens from data from FMV and couldn't get a decent match from my local paint shop. Can you let me know what the colours you used are?
