Re: Gaz 66 rear extension?
You can't really use the space over the cab like Oz did with his Zil because of the Gazs tipping cab but you could go higher with a roof tent or pop up.

Not a Gaz 69 but here is a Uaz 469 with a Gaz 66 V8 in it.

Re: what is the best rust remover
vactan....£42 for 5 litre, and it does work....again it needs to be overpainted, the boat hull is blathered in it, i originally bought a 500cc sample and was very impressed, now wont buy anything else, and is half the price of jenolite, suitable for inside fuel tanks and potable water also.... Look...

Re: New off roading toy))
that ratty Gaz of yours Steady John, no need to get upset and start firing insults. I'm not attacking you it's just that your project doesn't seem to make any sense. It seems like a huge waste of money and time for a vehicle you can only bimble round a few fields in Cheshire. As far as I can see an...

Re: what is the best rust remover
I use a bench grinder with a couple of different wire brush wheels in for stuff of that sort of size. Works a treat stripping paint and cleans out threads well. Not a fan of chemicals for this kind of thing.
For bigger stuff I would want to go down the sandblasting route.

unless of course Ditch you want to make me an offer on it A monster offroader that can't travel more than 15 miles away from home and is too expensive to run more than that anyway. Sounds like a chocolate fire guard to me unless you live in a quarry. I think I'll pass on that. Looks like the Terex ...

Re: New off roading toy))
Apart from not being Russian, military or even classic it looks like an interesting project. Seems like a waste of a perfectly good dumper though. Why don't you use that for shifting soil at the riding stables and work on the Zil as an off-roader? Sounds like you've completely given up on the Tatra?...

Re: No heaters in Eastern block vehicles??
I've met Lewis and he knows his Russian stuff. Like you said, I'm sure this didn't come from him. I think the attitude problem comes from pre Internet years where if you wanted information you would come along to a MVT or club monthly meeting and hope to meet someone who would be generous enough to ...

Re: Amazing Bushes on the UAZ
The good thing about fitting them to the Uaz is that it can't make much difference to the road noise.
