Re: Crank case leak
Ok I decided to go to 20W50 as you told me ! I think that is the better way to go, I am not planning any deep winter drives in Siberia so I think with the mild winters we have here 20W50 is a good allround oil. And god knows it may even stop that leak as it is very slow with 10W40 already. Maybe it ...

Re: Crank case leak
Thank you so much. That set my mind at ease . It is a minimal drip, and when I dry it up after driving it stays dry overnight , so it is minimal. I am going to change oil to a 15W40 slightly higher , and than maybe even to 20W40 later. And I ordered a leak plate to shove under gazik when stationary ...

Crank case leak
Hello all, It seems I have developed a small leak oil from the crank case. There is some kind of gasket made out of rope or some kind of cotton. When you touch it it is wet of oil on certain spot. If I have to say how much it leaks, I would say when car is standing still maybe two drops per 18 hours...

Re: Mission completed.
Ok Thanks for the tip. I am guessing that 4 liters on 1100 kms is more or less normal on a {new} engine. But the 10W40 might also be the reason why it consumed 4 liters. Funny thing I did not see a puff of smoke at all from exhaust in all speed regimes. So it must have really burned it. It was adven...

Re: Mission completed.
I am very happy! :ban Most of the time we kept it going at around 60 km/h. But I was able to take it up to 70 for a short time. The coolant temperature kept at 60 to 70 cels. Thats still a bit on the cool side but with the current heat in europe it is good i guess. I am sure I will need to do an oil...

Mission completed.
After a delyed re-delivery from overhaul of my Gazik it was finally ready to go. So i called my nephew in Canada and asked if he was eager to go on a road trip. Flew him in and we set of to Pozan Poland to pick up the goat from Tarmot. The goat was ready to go , all tanks full and an additional 20 l...

Re: Long Range Cruise setting
You want to join up for the epic route of field
Marshall zhukov to berlin??? That is my initial plan. Drive the seelow heights- cross the oder- onward to berlin etc
But again the trailer option is a more realistic plan.
And i might stick with that.

Re: Long Range Cruise setting
Well inmight be able to trail it home afterall.
That will save a heck of a lot of gasoline .
Plus your info made me think that such a long trip might be a bit of a strain for the”new” powertrain.

Re: Long Range Cruise setting
Thanks Matteo ! That tabel you made is very handy i am going to print and plastify it and keep it on the dash 😃. The Vne ( speed never exceed) is 70 km in third. And keep the revs modest at all times. All makes so much sense but i am just baffled about the factory speeds. Even if the engine and trai...

Re: Long Range Cruise setting
Thanks for the heads up. The longest i ever drove it in one stretch was 120 kms. I am planning on doing 3 hops of 300 km per day. That way me and the gaz gets some rest. The engine has been rebored and new cylinder rings have been added. Actually it got new cylinders aswell. I am planning to stay on...

Long Range Cruise setting
As a aviatior i would like to know what you guys think is a good long range cruise setting. What i mean is at what rev’s/speed do i get the best performance and least ware on the engine. I asking this because i am planning a long range trip soon. Planning to do 900 kms in 3 days. And yes i know .......
