Ural 375 - ZIL375 Motor

During the height of the pandemic last spring a collector here in the States contacted me that his father had a Ural 375 he purchased in an auction from the US Army back in 1998. It is a 1977 Ural 375 cab and chassis that was imported for 'documentation and testing' Usually these trucks were used fo...

Re: blejk (Uaz and Gaz 66 spares)

very good web site...emails sent for bits and pieces...need a few more starters for the zils and urals... Curious if they are still around? I cannot seem to raise their website and my email has gone un-answered. I wonder if they sold out of their stock of old parts and shuttered the shop or moved o...

Re: Ural 375 finally gets a new heart -

You know the urals are now sold with a straight 6 diesel. They sound very refined. Odd for a Ural... :-o what do they call people who resurrect long-dead threads with a reply, I think that may apply to me. not only am I responding nearly two years after the last response in this forum but I posted ...

GAZ 66 - Pending New Owner - Build

Knowing what i have gleaned from the forum here and the Russian gaz66.ru forums. I am looking for some advice. The PC Game SpinTires has created a fair amount of business for me in recent years. I have had my share of calls, emails etc looking for Kraz, MAZ Urals and now a GAZ 66. Usually it is a lo...

URal375/ZIL Sparkplugs-Ignition system

I have another Ural 375 I picked up cheap, I have tried everything but cannot get the thing to start. Tried everything but it seems to have a weak spark. I have two spare sparkplugs and cannot seem to locate plugs locally, or plugs that are not 40 year old Cold War surplus and take two months to arr...

Re: old trucks, do they survive cold/rainy climate? no garag

My Ural lives outside as the box is huge. I had some paint fading and a little bit of rust poking through here and there. I live in a fairly wet and damp climate (Northern New England US) - Another collector told me of his 'ancient' recipe for vehicle preservation. Apparently you take a toilet seali...

Ural 375 finally gets a new heart -

I finally found the time to start my replacement of the sadly dead 7L V8 in my 375. I decided on an International/Ford 7.3L V8 Powerstroke diesel. should fit nicely and found some space for the eletronic control unit mounted to the passenger side fender wall. gearbox is going to be tricky but I beli...

Re: Frustrations with UK Supplier

As stated previously I do not wish to needlessly malign this individual or his business if unwarranted however when I review every piece of email and scrap of paper it all adds up to some rather slippery maneuvers. here is the story (no names of course) A good customer and friend purchased two units...

Re: Frustrations with UK Supplier

Sorry, I can't help you much with the legal side of things, however I would suggest that you name & shame these scumbags, it could potentially save someone else from falling into the same trap if they are known. Best of luck. Let us just say two OT90's were purchased , think East Anglia. I probably...

Frustrations with UK Supplier

Sadly I am out nearly 25,000 GBP from a UK based supplier. I really struggle with my next steps, I don't relish the idea of filing some sort of complaint or taking legal action but it has been going on for 6 months and just found out that despite a long sorted tale the individual claims to have sold...

Re: 375 Ural - Diesel Conversion project

The Ural project is starting to gain momentum, I finally chose a 7.3L Ford Powerstroke V8 , 140,000 Miles, 275hp@3,000 rpm. I think a great match. Problems already - Considerations: Air compressor - the Russian stock compressor is huge, I would like to replace with a smaller more efficient model, an...

Re: 375 Ural - Diesel Conversion project

Update on the Engine Swap - the Detroit 2 Stroke 8V92 was just way too big a monster to fit into the poor Ural, at 2,800 lbs way too heavy . I finally found a higher revving 5.9L Cummins TD it has been modified with new injectors, tuning and puts out nearly 390 hp revs to 2900 rpm. I thinked coupled...

Re: RUSSIANMILITARY (Richard Moore)

Speaking of Mr. Moore, I have been trying to get in touch with him regarding two OT90's I purchased from a Canadian buyer who gave up trying to collect them and no longer had use for them. I am considering a trip across to Cambridgeshire and a visit to Mr. Moore. Any off-board suggestions would be v...

Tatra - Eastern Bloc Service/Restoration/Refurbishment CZ/SK

I am still seeking a decent source for service/refurbishment in the CZ/SK. I found two ; one went belly-up within 6 mos and took some of my money with it (not much thankfully) but they had done 99% of the work so I was ok. The other is cheap but the work reflects that. I need someone who can do modi...

Re: New Tatra bought.

Absolutely great to hear of a new tatra owner. Sadly most of the old 813's seem to have been made into Rally /Trial trucks or scrapped. I remember when I bought my first Unimog some 13 years ago the German dealer told me he was cutting 5-10 813's to be sold as scrap. Anyways, I have a "full" set of ...

Re: URAL 375 - Diesel Conversion

The 6v92 needs a few more gears than you would think, they need to be kept in their "happy" rpm band at all times, or it just a heavy gutless lump. If you could find a 9 or 10 speed, I think it would work very well. You see these engines with a 5 speed, but they usually have a 2 speed rear axle too...

SEEKING - Refurbisher/Rebuilder in SK/CZ

Seeking a military or heavy truck refurbisher in Slovakia or, preferrably Czech Rep. My source is sadly undergoing some difficulties and finding someone to refurbish hardware is really getting difficult. Knowledge of Tatra 813 and 815 is a must, a referral to a solid reputable establishment would be...

Re: URAL 375 - Diesel Conversion

I have seen a number of wreck yard trucks with this transmission. I can get a quote for a decent one for you. SHipping will be pricey, unless you can wait then it can go via mixed container.

Re: Favour...

Oh I like those as well... especially the S1 8x8's !

Nothing compares to driving an 8x8 Tatra 815 S1. The torque of the 19L V12 nearly twists the truck into a pretzle. I get all tingly just thinking about it

Re: www.excaliburarmy.com

I had some spares sourced from them, it seemd to go fairly well but they didn't follow shipping instructions and I got stuck paying nearly 40% more for freight. The export manager was less than friendly and basically told me to P*ss Off. I tried in a different light to work with them supplying refit...
