Re: Gaz 66 and 2 off Zil 157 for sale in Morecambe
Hi Karl. Trucks were from Spadeadam. Rolfe, expect the usual issues, fuel, pumps, brake/clutch seals, tyres etc. but the Gaz seems to be a basically sound vehicle as far as I can tell. I haven't heard it run or seen it move. Clutch and brake pedals go to the floor. At £2.5 it seems good starting poi...

Gaz 66 and 2 off Zil 157 for sale in Morecambe
In behalf of someone who contacted me. Went over today and saw the trucks. They have been stood for a while but all look good. Surface rust only and all complete. Zil decontam. has been briefly started by pouring fuel down the carb others are untested. All seem fine though. Zil box is paticularly st...

http://www.russianmilitarytrucks.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1827 You can do it with an attachment but the photos are much better with photobucket. Filling the tank at Wagtails would have to be done from the bowser or the pond as the dribble from the hose by the toilets would take the entire wee...

Are you going to put some ballast on the back Marcus? Always looked a bit light to me.

BSA are building a similar bike but refuse to share research. It'll end in tears.

Have a look at all the bonnets left open in this video. I'm sure they weren't left like that. They have had spares removed.

Odd. I thought we were discussing a project not stopping you living your life. I was just expressing an opinion and, let's face it, we've all got one.
Anyway, enjoy the build, test it hard in Wales and share the videos. Everyone's a winner.

Re: New off roading toy))
That's totally different to John's project. You're building a potential business Paul. When you sort out the museum and quarry thousands of people will get pleasure out of them. The way I see it restoring and improving the capital value of the vehicles and preserving them makes sense. I also think t...

Re: New off roading toy))
:D It's a free country Charles and John can waste his time and money in any way he wants but I think there has to be some sort of logic in a project for it to be worth starting. Like I said there are people on this forum that could get good value out of a monster off-road dumper but John freely admi...

Re: Gaz rear winch
The rear winch is in a bad position there as well. That's just where the truck drops when coming off a steep edge. Numberplate, rear lights and any lockers or tanks mounted behind the rear wheel line get a bashing.

Re: New off roading toy))
just gonna be a toy...... That's a bit of an understatement. I can see someone like Paul making good use of this project as he has vehicles to shift it round the country and should have a quarry soon to play in but it's a complete waste if you're not going to use it. Sounds like someone has more mo...

Re: Insurance quotes for trucks
So you mentioned the conversion (sink, bed) to them and it was OK at that price? In the end I stayed with my present company PREMIUM CHOICE who insured me for £111.00 plus £59.00 for UK breakdown service for a vehicle up to 7.5 tons. Got 9 points on my licence too!

She's not much of a looker but not bad for the money. Better weather protection than a dumper as well.

Re: Gaz rear winch
You'll never see what a Gaz can or cannot do until you grow some spuds and drive more than 15 miles from the riding stablesSays it all if a vehicle needs a winch at both ends for recovery purposes
